CERTIFICATE FROM FLC

Attached is the certificate in a jpg file from FLC for participation – you can edit the pdf (sent in an email) if you had a student that was a last minute substitution after the certificates were generated. The pdf file is too large to upload to our website.

Today is the day to send a friendly reminder to be sure to submit your state and national dues.  Below is more specific information.  State dues are $8 until the first Monday of December which will be here before we know it! 

 

HOW TO SUBMIT STATE BPA MEMBERSHIP - PLEASE TAKE NOTE!

 

To access the online membership registration system, please go to http://www.registermychapter.com/bpamem/ and enter your username and password.  Attached is a user guide for your reference.

 

Please remember that it will be essential that you include a copy of your invoice with your payment when submitting it to National BPA.

 

Minnesota state dues will be submitted online through the national website.  We are a unified dues state, that meaning that all state members must be national members as well.  This means that you will submit ONE check to NATIONAL BPA for both state and national dues.  Or you may call the national center direct to pay by credit card. 

 

State dues will continue to be $8 per member up thru December  3rd.  (If  you log in on the morning of the 4th they will be $9.)  Thereafter ALL additions will be at a rate of $9 for state membership.  National dues remain at $14.00.

Good afternoon everyone – This message is being sent to both the BPA Board as well as Region Chairs.

 

Sheri Berggren from Level 8 Creative will be available next weekend during the Fall Leadership Conference from 3-6 pm on Sunday and 9 - 11 am on Monday for you to visit with regarding your Region Conference needs.  She will be working out of Vista 2202 on Sunday and on Monday out of Plaza 7(Headquarters).

 

We will not have a formal training or meeting as the majority of you are well versed with the system.  But she would like to touch base with you.

 

Please make certain that your designated person from your Region meets with her - she would like the following info:

  • Date of conference confirmed
  • Hard/Soft close
  • Cost/location (if different than last year)
  • Any special "add-ons"

FLC REGISTRATION FEES

Please remember that registration fees are due PRIOR to the start of FLC.  Please do not hand in checks on site as they just get misplaced in the activity of the conference.

 

As I receive checks, I post them to the system and an email is generated that they have been received.  If you have not yet been notified, a check has not yet been received.

MONDAY

The breakout sessions offered on Monday morning at 8, 9 and 10 am are extensive!  I wanted to share the final list with you as the program book is not quite ready.  Students will attend a session of their choice at 8, 9 and 10 am.

 

SUNDAY

Students will be assigned to a color group within their selected track of New Member, Returning Member or Chapter Officer.

 

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT THEY GO TO THE COLOR GROUP/ROOM THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO OR THEY WILL JEOPARDIZE SEATING CAPACITIES……

 

Every student will participate in two sessions (3 pm and 7 pm) and the descriptions of their two activities/sessions are attached.

 

ADVISOR SESSIONS

There will be specific advisor sessions Sunday evening as well as at both 9 and 10 am on Monday - these are for you!   See the attached list (included at the end of the listing).

HOTEL TAX RATE

Last week you received an email that the tax at the hotel had increased as of October 1 meaning approximately .35 difference per room from what you have probably submitted to your district officers.

 

If you have not redone this or submitted paperwork to correct, please don’t take the time – MN BPA will have any of those small shortages routed to our master so that you do not have extra work on your part.  I will work directly with the hotel to make certain this happens.

We are busy securing outside speakers and it looks like it will be a great slate for your students to pick from for their 2 sessions of choice on Monday

BPA will once again order name badges for you if you wish to purchase – see attached form.  Submit no later than Monday.  You will receive the badge at FLC or by mail around that date if you do not attend.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR FLC IS NEXT MONDAY!

 

IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED OR BEGUN THE PROCESS

Please check today to make certain that you have your log in and pass code ready - it will make next Monday a little less stressful!  Your password etc. is the same as what you used last year and remains the same unless you change it.


SUMMARY OF STEPS TO REGISTER FOR STATE

Here are the steps you need to complete - Just make certain that you do or have done all of the following:

  1. SUBMIT your conference registration (this includes the track students will participate in) on our state online system – you have the pass code right?
  2. SUBMIT YOUR ROOM LIST on our state conference website – this is a separate submit button.
  3. IF YOU ARE SHARING ROOM WITH OTHER SCHOOL:  put these instructions on the excel form described below - they will take it from there. 
  4. Send your RESERVATION FORM/invoice summary to Doubletree (it is an excel form that will assist with setting up billing).  Please send me a copy. I am attaching a copy for your convenience.  This will serve as your invoice for your hotel charges.  Also attached is a form if you will be using a school credit card.
  5. Send check to MN BPA for the registration portion.  You can print an invoice from the system.

 

Do this on or before next Monday – that’s the deadline.  After October 2the registration fee increases by a onetime $50 fee per chapter so be sure to meet the deadline date!  Then send a check for the invoice amount for registration to MN BPA MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO FLC.

 

HOTEL CHANGES

Once the hotel receives all data from our site (we will transfer to their system after the deadline) you will then receive email confirmations for your rooms. 

VOTING DELEGATE ALLOCATIONS

From the FLC Packet:

Elections of the 2017-2018 State Officers will take place during the Fall Leadership Conference. Region Advisors & Region Presidents will be responsible for securing voting delegates on behalf of their region.  Voting Delegates MUST be in attendance at the Voting Delegate Briefing to be eligible to vote – this session is held at on Sunday, October 29 at 12:30 pm at the start of the conference.

 

Each region is allocated 10 delegates in addition to alternates.  If you have a member interested in serving as a voting delegate, please contact your Region Chair direct.  Officer Candidate Applications are due on or before October 2, 2017.  Officer Candidates are to refer to the“State Officer Candidate Information Packet” for additional information.


Region Chairs will receive the form this week that they will submit their regions' delegates on.  Thank you for encouraging your members to serve as voting delegates!

Hopefully you are encouraging members to submit their materials to be an officer candidate at the upcoming fall conference elections.

 

Here are a couple of clarifications for you to keep in mind as you work with your member.

 

WORKSHEET KEY

AFTER members  have been slated as official candidates, you as well as the members will receive a study guide key for them to prepare for the onsite exam.

 

EXPENDITURES

Attached is the form for students to use for their verification of expenses.  This will be verified and submitted prior to the campaign rally.  Please keep in mind that if something is donated or previously owned, the fair market value still needs to be listed.

 

FOOD ITEMS AT THE CAMPAIGN RALLY

Please remind your candidates that home baked goods/products are not allowable – all give away items must be commercially packaged as per state health codes.

 

BLAZERS

All candidates need to wear a navy blazer with BPA logo.  A few options for sourcing include:

  • if you have a BPA blazer but its the wrong size for your candidate, the patch could be put on any navy blazer
  • blazers are available through order through National BPA
  • borrow from a chapter within your region

 

Khaki or grey skirts or slacks are recommended but it is the candidate's choice.

 

PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE

Attached is a handout to share regarding professional attire at the conference.

 

OFFICER TRAINING CONFERENCE

The mandatory training for the newly elected state officers will be held November 17-19, 2017 in Minneapolis.

MN BPA will host the 2017 FLC, October 29 & 30,2017 at the Doubletree Minneapolis South at a rate of $139 plus tax .   Conference registration fee will be $35 and includes a conference t-shirt. 

 

Attached is a complete information packet as well as some additional information.  Be sure to read!

Please keep in mind that the agenda is a work in progress - there will probably be minor changes to time frames after we see numbers attending as well as numbers of candidates. 

 

We have taken great care based upon YOUR feedback to loosen up the up the scheduling as well as bringing in a new training company to facilitate the content of Sunday's breakouts. 

 

FORMAT FOR FLC

We are excited that TEAM CONCEPTS will be hosting  the two breakout sessions on Sunday (1 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening) where each student will have the opportunity to learn to lead!!  You will find more programming details in future emails.  There will be four track opportunities:

  • New Member
  • Experienced Member
  • Chapter Officer

 

HOW TO REGISTER for CONFERENCE AND HOUSING

You should receive your very own pass code for the registration system on line on Friday.  Your passcode will not have changed from last year unless you changed it. This is how you will register attendees for the conference.

Attached is the packet with State Officer Candidate Information.  Elections will take place at the 2017 Fall Leadership Conference, October 29 & 30, 2017.  Deadline for RECEIPT of all application materials is October 2, 2017 

 

Please be aware all candidates running for state office need to have a navy blazer with BPA patch by FLC to wear during FLC.  Please pay attention to making certain it fits appropriately for a well-groomed appearance.

 

Please remember the following changes that were implemented LAST YEAR:

  • The campaign manager may not serve as a voting delegate or alternate voting delegate.
  • Application is not accepted electronically - must be submitted as outlined in the packet.
  • The campaign manager is allowed to use business cards.

WELCOME BACK BPA!

I hope you had a wonderful summer and made some great memories!  

 

Over the next few days as well as into next week, you will receive many emails to get us back at it including this membership info, state officer candidate info and FLC.  Please keep them and digest as time permits!  Keep in mind that for your convenience everything is posted on the advisor announcement page on our state website so that you are able to go back and reference if you misplace an email. 

 

FLC  - PASSCODE INFO EMAIL WILL BE GENERATED AROUND SEPTEMBER 15TH.

When the pass codes to register are generated, I will send you an email as a heads up to watch for it.  Hang onto this email with subject as BPA Fall Leadership Conference - System Log-In Information, please check your spam. If it is not there, please let me know so that we can generate pass code information for you.

 

MEMBERSHIP DUES

Registration for the 2017-2018 BPA Membership Year opened last week . Please make plans to register your members for the start of the new school year. Members must be registered prior to participation in BPA activities including Fall Leadership Conferences.

Just a reminder that last spring the MN BPA Board of Directors passed a dues increase for this year – state dues are now $8.  The increase is going to pay for a complete package of liability insurance for MN BPA.

 

BPA Dues are submitted online through the National Membership System.  Attached are instructions.  Register your members online at
